Gonzalo Giner broke into the world of publishing with his novel La cuarta alianza which became a bestseller only a few weeks after publication. However, El sanador de caballos was the landmark of his literary career, thanks to its highly successful emotional recreation of the medieval world of the first vets. The success of El sanador de caballos led to other honours including membership of the Royal Academy of Veterinarians of Catalunya.
