Kirmen Uribe

Kirmen Uribe is a refreshing new voice on the Basque literary scene. The publication of his book of poetry Bitartean heldu eskutik in 2003, winner of the National Critics Prize, is among the most read in the Basque language and has been translated into Spanish, French and English. The English translation received an award from the PEN American Center and was a finalist in the category of best poetry book translated into English in 2007. He has also published articles and poems in various prestigious magazines, including the New Yorker.
