In the year 48 B.C., a very young Cleopatra shares the throne of Egypt with a brother she despises, Ptolemy. Then Julius Caesar arrives in Alexandria. Political interest and amorous passion unite the young queen with the veteran general, a man at the height of his power and charisma. But Julius Caesar, so far undefeated on the field of battle, in his haste to get to Egypt, has brought with him little more than a thousand men. As he tries to help his lover Cleopatra to become the only queen of the Nile, he finds himself under siege from Ptolemy’s forces. Far from Rome and the majority of his legions, the conqueror of Gaul is placed in the most dangerous situation of career, with his own life under threat.
