Carolina Punset Bannel (born in Washington D.C 1971) has a Law Degree from the Independent University of Madrid and a masters degree in development and cooperation from the Complutense University. Besides having worked as a criminal lawyer, she is also a specialist in development cooperation and NGOs, having developed her professional career in various non-governmental organizations (Doctors Without Borders, Human Project, City of Joy Fund....). She entered politics to lead a political party in Altea (CIPAL) in response to the environmental destruction and nepotism that had been prevalent in the municipality. In the Town Hall she has been councillor for Agriculture, Health, Citizen Participation and European residents. She put Altea on the map in the Valencian Community through her work for her environmental and agricultural initiatives. She now serves as the Councillor for Town Planning in the current government team, focusing her efforts to combat urban sprawl and putting in place regulations, which will protect the environment.
