Elvira Lindo (Cadiz, 1962) started to work on the radio when she was just nineteen. She has held roles as a scriptwriter, newsreader and panellist and presented several different radio programs. It was in the radio scripts that the character Manolito Gafotas first appeared. Her novels include El otro barrio (The Other Neighbourhood, 1998), Algo más inesperado que la muerte (Something More Unexpected than Death, 2003), Lo que me queda por vivir (What I Have Left to Live, 2010) and Lugares que no quiero compartir con nadie (Places I Don’t Want to Share With Anyone, 2011). In 1998 she won the National Prize for Children’s and Youth Literature and in 2005 she received the Biblioteca Breve Prize for the novel Una palabra tuya (A Word from You). She has written numerous screenplays. The winner of the Atlántida Prize given by the Editors Union of Catalonia in 2009, she often writes for the El País newspaper.
