Nerea Riesco was born in Bilbao and grew up in Valladolid. She has a degree in Journalism from the University of Seville and has worked as a producer, presenter and sound technician for different radio programmes. She currently lives in Seville. In 2002 she published her first book of stories, Ladrona de almas. Two years later, she received the IX Premio de Novela Ateneo Joven of Seville for El País de las Mariposas, establishing her as one of the most promising young Spanish writers. Ars Magica, published in 2007, was a finalist in the prestigious Premio Espartaco 2008 and El elefante de marfil was published in 2010. Her works have been translated into several different languages and published in Portugal, Italy, Germany, Greece, Poland, Finland.
