Xabier Gutiérrez (San Sebastián, 1960) is a chef, psychologist and writer. Since 1990, he has directed the innovation department at the Restaurante Arzak in San Sebastián. He makes regular media appearances, has been a consultant to businesses in the gastronomy sector and given classes for the masters course in innovation and restaurant management at the Basque Culinary Center. He has published twelve cookbooks and five non-fiction works on culinary aesthetics. Ten of his works have won prestigious awards such as the Best World Cookbook Award and the National Award for Gastronomy. El aroma del crimen is his first novel.
