The great Arctic adventure.
When we think of the most important expeditions in history, we often forget the conquest of the Arctic, but for more than five centuries, countless ships and sailors plunged into its frozen seas searching for unknown lands and faster routes for commerce. Few of these reached their goal: the fortunate ones made it home with empty hands, while others were lost forever.
The history of the Arctic is a history of adventures. For these 500 years of cold, explorers have bravely faced off against the greatest challenge our planet has to offer: isolated during months of utter darkness, amid the most extreme climatic conditions, alone in a way almost impossible to imagine in our age of social media and telecommunications.
