Sepúlveda, a teacher at the Cervantes Institute in Tangiers, is having a clandestine affair with one of his pupils that suddenly gets him dragged into a dangerous investigation into the dealings of Spanish businessmen and politicians inMorocco. This story takes place alongside another depicting the first married years of the protagonist’s parents; a tormented journalist and a very beautiful woman, set in Tangiers in the fifties, amid the sophistication and Bohemian lifestyle of one of the most glamorous cities of the time.
After El tiempo entre costuras (Time Between Stitches), Tangiers has become famous for its glamorous past.
“In Tangiers, the women are as unpredictable as the weather at the end of September. Almost always warm and sunny, they can suddenly turn cold and stormy with no prior warning.”
