 Allan R. Millett ocupa la cátedra General Raymond E. Mason, Jr., de Historia Militar en la Ohio State University. Entre sus obras destacan The Politics of Intervention: The Military Occupation of Cuba, 1906-1989 (1968), Semper fidelis: the History of the United States Marine Corps (1991), y For the Common Defense: A Military History of the United States, 1607-1983 (junto con Peter Maslowski, 1994).
